IB French, Head of French

Born and raised in France and having mixed European heritage, I have always had a passion for languages.

Having lived in France, England and Australia, I truly consider myself a citizen of the world. I realised that I wanted to be a teacher to share my love for languages, the Romance languages in particular, after being inspired by my English teacher at High School.

It all started at the Paul Valéry University, in Montpellier, France. There, I completed my undergraduate in English and American Literature, History, Linguistics with Translation and Spanish. I also completed the last year of my degree as an Erasmus student in Bristol, England, where I then stayed and completed a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages.

During my 8 years of teaching, I have taught French and Spanish in the UK and in Australia from primary all the way up to secondary school level, including French literature for native speakers. I have gained invaluable experiences working in different teaching environments. I have also taken a variety of leadership roles throughout my career ranging from being a Curriculum Leader to a House Mentor. I am ambitious and like new challenges which is what I expect from my students in my classes: I encourage them to reach for their dreams, try something new, and above all, to be ambitious.

I am very keen to be joining NAS Dubai for a number of reasons: first and foremost, I am eager to work at a school where languages place such an important part in the curriculum in a school with such high expectations of and aspirations for their students. My wish is for all students to reach their potential. For me, it is essential for students to understand what they are learning, and why, in order to develop their critical ability and empower them for the future. I am excited to be joining NAS Dubai and to be contributing to your child’s unique learning experiences.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy hiking, reading and am an avid traveller!  I love visiting new places and learning about other cultures and traditions. I believe that understanding other cultures is the key that foster respect and communication in such a globalised world. As Charlemagne said, «To have another language is to possess a second soul».
