Be reminded of this: “The brain changes characteristic of adolescence are among the most dramatic and important to occur during the human life span.” (Laurence Steinberg, Brain and Cognition) That shouldn’t be too surprising, as you’re probably witnessing major changes of your adolescent through the journey of Middle School. Due to this evolving nature, it is necessary that we tap into the potential of their growing minds. One quite effective way of doing so is taking students out of the classrooms, getting them moving, experiencing hands-on, real-life lessons while collaborating with their peers.
Thus, this week and next, the 6th & 7th graders are participating in off-campus experiences designed to enhance upcoming cross-curricular lessons. Enjoy photos: 6th grade and 7th grade. 8th graders are partaking soon, as well. Feel free to peruse the field trip details here. ~ Mary Beth Davies, Middle School Director
