Getting Around Madrid
Getting from A to B in Madrid is quick and easy, especially in the city center. Public transport offers underground (which is called the “Metro” in Spain), over-ground, train and bus services.
The public transport website is useful for map, location, timetable information, making it a good option for newcomers to Madrid. It is also available in English.
Things to do in Madrid with your family
Entertainment options are plenty in Madrid, and for all ages, too. For adults, there is a huge selection of great restaurants and nightlife, as well as large parks and outdoor events for the younger ones in the family.
In the suburb of La Moraleja, some good areas for restaurants include La Plaza de La Moraleja, where there are a number of casual and fine dining establishments. Diversia, conveniently located by the La Moraleja metro station, is also a good option. Here there are family-friendly restaurants and a game arcade, bowling alley and cinemas.
The cinema Cinesa Manoteras is a good option for English speakers as it offers many of its screening in English, the timetable of which you can see on their website.
Shopping
For shopping, some of the most popular areas in Madrid include calle Fuencarral, which has a mix of international stores as well as smaller boutiques, Calle de Serrano, where you can find a mix of big name brands and high street stores. There are also a number of shopping centers in Madrid’s suburbs, such as Plaza Norte 2 in San Sebastián de los Reyes, just minutes away from our school.
