Rusydi is from Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. At the age of 15, he and his family moved to Muscat, Oman, following his father's career, where he attended The American International School of Muscat. He graduated in 2012 with an American high school diploma and went on to continue his study at the University Campus Suffolk, Ipswich. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Studies in 2016, Rusydi went back home and took a job as a substitute SEN teacher at a local secondary school, which then led his decision to further his studies. He graduated from Taylor's University in 2019, with a Master's degree in Teaching and Learning, prior to joining BSKL as an assistant teacher.
Rusydi is very active in several types of sports, but his favourites are football and futsal. He enjoys playing both board games and video games. He also enjoys cooking and baking in his past time.
