Mrs Sonia Sheppard

Sonia Sheppard

Assistant Head of EYFS

Post Graduate Certificate in Special Education Needs Coordination; BA (Hons) Primary Education

Sonia loves teaching the Early Years as it is her mission to instil a love for learning in all children. This is Sonia’s third year teaching Reception at BSKL. Before moving to Malaysia she taught Reception and Year One in the UK. Alongside her teaching commitments she worked as Early Years Lead Teacher supporting other EYFS teachers across the county. With an interest in how children learn Sonia became Special Educational Needs Coordinator supporting children and teachers across a school federation to overcome barriers to learning. Other leadership responsibilities held were Designated Safeguarding Lead and Mathematics Lead, but her favourite was as Music Lead Teacher. With a love of outdoor learning she qualified as a Forest School Leader and opened her own Forest School on the school site.

Sonia loves travelling, learning about different cultures and traditions first hand with her husband and three children. Although the oldest two are now grown up and have careers of their own, they look forward to visits in KL.
