Ms Fong Ying Tan

Ms Fong Ying Tan embarks on education career as a junior assistant teacher at BSKL, aspiring to expand her horizons in this international environment and continue to develop pedagogical knowledge and skills. While studying at university, she had been involved in a charity project for nearly a year, teaching English to the underprivileged children from Jinjang Utara community in Kuala Lumpur. In her free time, she enjoys reading and listening to music. She is also keen on learning Japanese language.

I am currently studying Advanced in Special Education at College of Allied Educators (CAE), Malaysia - I completed BA in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at HELP University, Malaysia.

While studying in university, I had been involved in a charity project named 'Jingjang Utara Literacy Project' for almost a year to teach Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar to underprivileged children. After graduation, I had worked as a tutor teaching Cambridge Primary and Secondary English for a year before joining BSKL.

I love reading books, especially books with thought-provoking themes, and listening to various genres of music. I also enjoy digital graphic drawing and editing. Involving in education sector myself and listening to inspiring stories from other educators, I genuinely believe that education is a rewarding career that allows me to contribute to and witness youths' positive growth.

I believe that student happiness comes from their sense of belonging, generosity, mastery and independence, which all can be nurtured and developed through personalised supports under the curriculum and pastoral care in BSKL.
