I come from UK, Birmingham, but I am originally from Italy. I moved to Malaysia nearly 5 years ago with my son, who also attends this school, and our two super spoiled cats, Lady Gaga & Lady Marmalade. So far, I have travelled extensively. Being the classical example of 'third culture kid', throughout my life I lived in several interesting places in Europe, Africa, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America. This way of life has certainly equipped me with an open mind and a great spirit of adaptation. I love art in all its forms and when I need some time to unwind I paint or sketch.
In my free time I like to be surrounded by nature and animals, read Psychology articles and watch Italian movies. After graduating in Clinical Psychology and working as a counsellor, I began working in education. Since then, I have been committed to my passion for teaching children for over twenty years. So far, I have had experience teaching in Early Years, KS1, KS2 and adult level; both in International Schools around the world and in State Schools in the UK. I find great joy in watching children grow and helping them to succeed in life. I love making their learning journey engaging and enjoyable by teaching in a creative and fun way.
I have a natural positive attitude to life and I am committed to inspiring children with my nurturing approach and smiles…I am a strong believer that it is the most powerful and effective communicative approach! My favourite life/educational quote is: 'No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted' (Aesop). I'm a strong believer in the power of practising personal and professional kindness. Being kind is a value that often requires courage and strength in the world we live in. Incorporating the smallest acts of kindness into our everyday has ripple effects on others and ourselves. It’s those little bits of good put together that have the potential to change the world.
My role at BSKL is to facilitate an inclusive environment, be a positive educator that interacts positively and meaningfully with students by making learning accessible to all and ensuring that their mental health and wellbeing comes at the forefront of everything I do. At BSKL the foundation of student's success is happiness, which to me means building a positive and trustful relationship with my students, helping them feel accepted and promoting a sense of belonging, supporting them to understand themselves, their character strengths, uniqueness and their incredible value. Especially in these times, where change and transition have been prominent features of the education landscape, equipping students with the tools to build a strong, positive sense of self is my primary goal.
