    Mr Harrie Thomson

    Before deciding on a career in teaching Harrie studied Sport and Exercise Science at Liverpool John Moores University and played 1st team rugby. After graduating he was employed by Charters Sports College in the UK who sponsored him during his initial teacher training and offered him a position on completion. His teaching philosophy is student centred. He aims to instil a belief in students that qualities can be improved through effort, challenge and experience. Harrie has had experience teaching all age groups KS1-5, organising various expeditions and sports tours internationally, additionally he has coached teams in various sports. His desire was always to teach internationally and when an opportunity presented itself at BSKL he jumped at the chance. He has been at the British International School Kuala Lumpur for 4 years and is currently Director of Physical Education and Sport. In his spare time he enjoys playing competitive rugby, football and participating in various forms of fitness training.

    Mr Connor McAlister

    Connor served in the British Army before studying Exercise and Sport Sciences at the University of Exeter. After graduating he worked as a Health and Fitness Manager for Fitness First in the U.K. Connor returned to university in 2011 to study towards his PGCE in Physical Education at The Manchester Metropolitan University. He secured a role at The Manchester Grammar School following a successful placement as a student teacher. Initially Connor taught in the secondary P.E department before being promoted to Head of Junior School Physical Education in 2014. During his time at the school he guided teams to numerous successes in football, rugby, cricket, swimming and futsal as well as developing the P.E curriculum and organising numerous sporting events. Connor loves teaching and has enjoyed working with students across a range of key stages. He believes that P.E should be challenging, engaging and fun. Connor is very interested in learning and teaching and enjoys using a range of methods to create stimulating lessons for his students. His aim is to foster a lifelong enthusiasm for sport in those he teaches and to create confident and independent learners. Connor is interested in a wide variety of sports and currently holds sixteen coaching qualifications. He is looking to add more in the future!

    Connor enjoys playing a range of sports, but especially football. He has represented his University and Corps football teams as well as playing for a number of amateur teams and is a huge West Ham United fan. Connor was inspired to teach internationally by the opportunity to expose his children to new cultures, explore Asia and further his own teaching experiences. He is delighted to have joined BSKL.

    Mr Jamie Riesman

    Jamie qualified as a primary school teacher in 2012, working as a class teacher at a school in London. Over the next four years he taught in a number of different year groups to develop his teaching practice. Throughout this time Jamie led a range of subjects including Science, Music and PE. In 2016, due to his expertise, passion and interest in physical activity, Jamie was given the full time role of Primary PE Teacher and Co-ordinator. This included teaching PE to children from EYFS to Year 6. During this period, he successfully developed key principles throughout the school to change the culture around physical activity and sports participation. Jamie has taught a range of different primary school sports from Dance and Gymnastics, to Football and Tennis. He is extremely passionate about PE and the effect it can have on children, developing a wide range of skills and empowering them to reach their potential.

    Jamie is a keen footballer and competitive runner. He has run 6 marathons and countless half marathons in the last 5 years. In Rotterdam, he reached his goal of a sub 3 hour marathon. He wants to encourage everyone to develop the resilience and growth mindset needed to achieve all of their goals.

    Mr Gareth Pearson

    Gareth is originally from Yorkshire in the UK but has lived in Asia for over 10 years. He has worked in Thailand and Borneo before moving to join BSKL 4 years ago.

    As Head of Swimming at BSKL, Gareth believes in a broad, challenging and enjoyable aquatics programme that engages all students. He also teaches PE across the school and is heavily involved in all BSKL Lions teams.

    Outside of school Gareth enjoys competing in many different sports and plays rugby for the KL Tigers. He also enjoys the occasional round of golf with friends and travelling to new places.

    Ms Charlotte Massey

    Charlotte enjoys playing netball and has played throughout her educational years; She also played for Cheshire Jets a local netball team in her area. She is a keen road runner and has a passion for physical activity. She has an interest in fashion and enjoys interacting with new people and learning different ways of life. She seeks to help others learn new skills whilst adapting to different individuals and environments. Charlotte hopes to travel the world and submerge herself within the different cultures.

Hannah has a passion for meeting new people and experiencing different cultures, and she is excited about making new memories in a new country.

    Wilson has been an avid swimmer ever since he was 12 and as he has trained at the national level as a competitive swimmer in Malaysia during his growing high school years. As time passed by, he decided to adopt his hobby as a profession. He prides himself with his patience and his ability to handle children of all ages delicately whilst setting challenges to improve their water confidence. Wilson loves to travel and experience different cultures and food.
