Upon graduating from university, I worked in Japan with the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) programme and later as a Nursery teacher in Tokyo. After a brief stint in Japanese television production, I then spent seven happy years in a large primary school in Bermondsey, London, pursuing a variety of roles including Global Learning Lead and Lower Key Stage 2 English Lead. I am passionate about instilling a love of learning and in particular, a love for reading in children.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two young children, who are currently in Year 1 and Nursery at BSKL. I also love running, reading children’s and adult’s literature and exploring the jungle on a mountain bike.
Like the story of Goldilocks, I believe student happiness is about finding the sweet spot where the level of challenge matches the abilities of the student, just so. With encouragement, support and a healthy, balanced lifestyle, all students can be happy.
