Year 1 Teacher and Handwriting Project Champion

A passion for teaching was ignited in Rachael after studying Psychology at the University of St Andrews, followed by experience at Cedar International School summer camp in the Caribbean. She trained through the School Direct route at a small Greater Manchester primary school, and was awarded PGCE with QTS from Cumbria University. Rachael took a position in Year 1 at this school, and then spent two years in EYFS, finding her calling in early education. During her three years, Rachael took on a number of extra responsibilities; she coordinated Computing and developed a new curriculum, started a Year 6 book club, Reception French club and chaired the School Council.

Rachael is a keen volunteer and fundraiser, and recently spent one month delivering sustainable training to primary teachers in Ghana with LRTT. This incredibly rewarding and life changing experience led her to take on a role as mentor to an NQT at a partner school, as well as fuelling an appetite for travel. Aside from teaching, Rachael enjoys sailing and has competed in a number of competitions from a young age. She also has a gorgeous cat called Arthur.
