Following the completion of my PGCE I began teaching in the UK, where I taught for three years, I then taught at an established British International School in Mexico City as a year 6 teacher and whole school Mathematics Coordinator. Following this, I took the lead in writing and implementing the curriculum at a start up school in Mexico City. I was part of this start up project from the design stage through to the third year of opening. Most recently, I was working in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as the founding Headteacher of Amity International School. Along the way I completed my NPQSL and am currently working on completing my iNPQH.
I am originally from London England, although I grew up in Durham in the North-East of England. I have two boys who were both born in the Netherlands and they will both be attending BSKL this year. I love to hike and have completed several hiking challenges over the years including completing the Camino de Santiago twice and reaching the summit of two of the highest volcanoes in Mexico: Pico de Orizaba and Iztaccihuatl.
Student happiness is about creating an environment in which students feel safe; safe to learn, to develop relationships, to take risks and to make mistakes.
