Since graduating from Roehampton Institute with a PGCE in Primary Education I have worked in three different primary school settings. I began my teaching career in a very challenging inner city primary school in Tottenham North London. I spent 2 years teaching students from a variety of different social, ethnic and multicultural backgrounds. I then moved to the UAE to teach at RAK Academy. This was my first international posting and I taught at this school for 14 years. After this I moved to Nord Anglia School Dubai in 2015 as Head of Year 6. I am currently teaching a Year 6 class at The British School of Kuala Lumpur which is also part of the Nord Anglia Education Group. Throughout my teaching career I have held a range of teaching and management responsibilities including Year Group Coordinator, Head of Year 6, Upper Key Stage 2 Coordinator and International Award Leader.
I was born in London and spent the first 20 years of my life growing up in the the London Borough of Camden. I come from a large family and I am the oldest of 9 siblings. I am married and have two teenage children. My son is currently studying to become a teacher at Nottingham University and my daughter is taking her A-Levels at BSKL. I enjoy playing all types of sports and have spent many years coaching and playing football. In my spare time you can often find me walking around TTDI eating at the local mamak restaurants or walking up and down Kiara Hill Park. I joined the teaching profession for three main reasons; to give back and provide opportunities for children in my local community, to travel the world and inspire and support students everywhere to be the best that they can be. My favourite educational quote is "It is vital when educating our students brains that we do not neglect to educate their hearts" Finding a balance between developing knowledge and being a compassionate member of society is indicative of my teaching style and at the forefront of my teaching pedagogy and philosophy.
When students are happy, engaged and wanting to come to school then this is the perfect environment where everyone learns best. One thing that I can guarantee is that your child will not forget this year at BSKL and that it will be a positive, exciting and happy year of progression and growth.
