After graduating from The University of Plymouth with a BA (Hons) degree in Early Childhood Education, I was a Learning Support Assistant in a primary school in Southampton. I then completed my teacher training at The University of Winchester and my teaching career began at a primary school in Shepperton, Surrey. After completing my NQT year, I was given the role of Head of Year 5 and Head of Physical Education. I then relocated to Sydney, Australia, where I gained invaluable experience supply teaching in all year groups, from Kindergarten to Year 6. On return to the UK, I then taught at a primary school in Twickenham where I was Head of Year 4, Head of Year 5 and Head of Physical Education.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, hiking, sports and exploring new places. I also love spending time with my friends and family, especially my niece and nephews. Whilst I enjoy playing and watching all sports, my biggest passion is Netball. My love for the sport began when I was a primary aged child myself, in Year 3. I have coached children for a number of years and played for a variety of different clubs in the UK.
Student happiness is about providing children with a safe, engaging and positive environment rooted in mutual respect where they feel a sense of belonging. It is about encouraging children to be confident, resilient, independent learners and problem solvers who take an active role in their learning and who are not afraid to make mistakes. It is enabling children to follow their passions, nurturing their curiosity and creativity both inside and outside of the classroom. It is ensuring that they know they can make a difference in the world.
