I've been a teacher for 22 years, mainly in the UK but also with a three year spell in the British International School in Shanghai. I've held a number of leadership roles including Head of History, Head of Humanities, Head of Middle School and Deputy Head of a Sixth Form Centre. I have also held a number of other roles within schools, mostly recently as a Talent Champion and as Research Lead. I have 16 years experience of teaching A-Level and IBDP. I have been an examiner for GCSE, IB and A-Level in both History and Politics.
I am a born and bred Londoner, but consider myself very much a global citizen. I'm passionate about education and have developed close links with a school in Tanzania which I have been working alongside and supporting for the last decade, providing teacher training and leadership consultancy. In my spare time I enjoy the outdoor life. I'm a keen footballer which I play competitively (but badly!). I also enjoy running, cricket and canoeing. When driven indoors I can be found playing chess and quizzing. I love living in Kuala Lumpur and am committed to improving my Bahasa this year.
Student happiness is being in a safe and stimulating environment where one can explore ideas and have your existing ideas challenged. One where every lesson involves moments where you get to better understand the world around you.
