Head of Maths
Adam Simson completed his degree and PGCE at Bristol University. In 2004 he took up his first teaching position at a comprehensive school in the same city teaching maths and ICT. After two years he moved to New Zealand, worked in a large comprehensive school near the capital Wellington. Here he was heavily involved with many extra curricular activities and taught year 13 calculus. On his return to the UK in 2010 he joined a very exciting and innovative maths department in Westminster Academy, London. Mr Simson had many different roles within the department, including IB standard level teacher, key stage 3 coordinator and responsibility for the teaching and learning strategy. In his final year there he was the head of maths, managing a department of 17 teachers. The school was named the TES School of the year for the UK in 2013. Nikhil taught Mathematics in the UK for 5 years, prior to coming to BSKL. In the UK Nikhil began his career at Holmes Chapel (an OFSTED Outstanding School) where he was able to develop best practise of assessment across the school. He came from a responsibility as Assessment Coordinator where he was able to significantly improve the A Level results through careful monitoring of pupil progress and ensuring suitable interventions were put into place. Nikhil has experience of coaching teachers to develop their practice and using Lesson Study which gives teachers the opportunity to work collaboratively, discuss, learn and reflect to improve their on practice. Nikhil has run a variety of educational trips and appreciates the well rounded education that these trips provide and the way they enrich students lives.

Sonny gained a Mathematics degree from the University of Nottingham, and worked in corporate banking in Canary Wharf for 3 years before completing teacher training through Teach First in Ipswich. During his time teaching in comprehensive and private schools, Sonny has taught key stages 3,4 and 5 Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Statistics, and co-ordinated several successful entries into UKMT and International Maths Challenges.
