Head of Mathematics
Mr Dharmesh Chauhan has held the position of Head of Mathematics in various school through out his career journey. He was also an Assistant Headteacher where he held responsibilities in curriculum and assessment. The past few years he has mainly taught GCSE and A level mathematics and is looking forward to working with KS3 students. He now resides in Kuala Lumpur with his wife and two young children. He enjoys being handy by making things and being creative through ‘upcycling’ unwanted items.

Deputy Head of Maths
Mr Alexander Biggs has been teaching internationally for 3 years at BSKL. Prior to this he spent 4 years in England working in the state system, in both Leicester and inner-city London. Alexander believes in equipping his pupils with the learning skills to be successful not just in Maths, but in future life, and enjoys engaging with the latest educational research.
Maths Teacher
Mr Ben Davey taught for 4 years at Ranelagh School in Bracknell England after receiving his qualification. During that time, he taught key stages 3 to 5 and was involved in the mentoring and training of PGCE Mathematics students. In 2013, he moved to Sri KDU International School and then to BSKL since 2017.
Mr Nelson Mitchell studied BSc in Mathematics at Sussex University and did his PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London. He taught in 2 different inner city schools in East London holding a pastoral role. He spent 12 years teaching Maths up to A Level and held head of year role at The London borough of Hounslow. He and his family moved to Abu Dhabi for 8 years and now he is teaching at BSKL.

Mr Sonny Zimmer gained a Mathematics degree from the University of Nottingham, and worked in corporate banking in Canary Wharf for 3 years before completing teacher training through Teach First in Ipswich. During his time teaching in comprehensive and private schools, Sonny has taught key stages 3,4 and 5 Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Statistics, and co-ordinated several successful entries into UKMT and International Maths Challenges.
After graduating, Ms Olga Markina spent a year working as a teaching assistant for A-level Mathematics in all Boy’s school in Kent, UK. Realising that teaching is a career path that she wants to pursue in the future, she joined a Graduate Teachers Training program in Mathematics for Secondary schools. During the training, she worked in 3 different schools across Havering, UK: Catholic School for Girls, Mixed sex state school and a special educational needs school. Her international experience includes teaching both A-levels and IB Maths in Qatar and Malaysia.
Ms Sumila Akthar holds a PGCE from the University of Bolton, Graph Theory Module from the Open University and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Manchester. She helped set up the Mathematic Department in two free schools in Greater Manchester. She moved to Malaysia 2 years ago and has taught KS3 and IB level Mathematics before setting foot at BSKL.
