I have had several Middle Leadership role over the last 10 years. My career started 13 years ago in Northumberland UK, where I was quickly appointed a Second in Department role. Having worked closely with an experience Head of Department, I continued my career in Gateshead, UK, where I was appointed Head of Modern Foreign Languages. I joined BSKL 6 years ago as the Head of Modern Foreign Languages Department in Secondary, where I introduced the French and Spanish A-Level courses, as well as leading and closely working with the Bahasa and Mandarin teams. In my time here, I have been involved in several CPD opportunities such as coaching, and leading Teaching and Learning Communities. Most recently, I have been involved in Senior Leadership training delivered through JAWS.
Born in South Yorkshire, UK, I have always had a love of Language learning. This influenced my decision to study at Durham University, where I had the opportunity to study French, Spanish, German and some beginner Italian. My love of languages continues now, as I have recently started to study Mandarin (with limited success unfortunately!). I am a huge fan of "Les Mills" training programmes such as "Grit Series" and BodyPump.
Happiness for me is seeing my students engage positively with language learning, and develop confidence to give it a go. See the progress that pupils make from beginners in Y7 to the great results that achieve in KS4 is great.
