I started teaching swimming part time in high school at my local swimming club. I went on to further my studies in the UK and continued coaching and swimming part time whilst studying. I taught both 'learn to swim' and competitive swimming .
After graduating, I went on to Shanghai, China and worked full time as a swimming teacher there, teaching various levels in swimming , for about a year before joining BSKL.
My hobbies include playing badminton and fitness training. My favourite sport would definitely be swimming! I also enjoy weight lifting. I also like music, and my playlist is a mix of pop, hip hop, edm, rap, and classics.
Water safety is very important to me, which is one of the reasons I became interested in teaching swimming. Personally, I have seen people drowning and this pushed me to pursue educating others about water safety (learning to swim). Swimming is a survival skill that everyone should know. I was privileged that my parents sent me for swimming lessons and given that opportunity to learn, which eventually led me on to my career. I hope I get to educate as many as I can regarding water safety and to enjoy being in the water.
Student happiness to me, is when I see their spirit for swimming in and out of the pool. It is when they are excited to come for swimming lessons to learn and when they're in the pool, they are eager to improve their strokes to achieve a better personal time for example. Student happiness is also when students are happy and comfortable to learn with their peers/friends in a positive learning environment. This also reflects on their successes. There's friendship with a little competition in the sport.
