Student Use
Children in PreK1, PreK2 and Kindergarten visit the library once a week for 45 minutes, primarily for story time, though they also learn the basics of what a library is.
Grades 1 through 5 come once a week for 45 minutes. Their library sessions include a mix of reading and standards-based library instruction utilizing Standards for the 21st century learner from the American Associated of School Libraries (AASL).
The purpose of the library programme for the Elementary School students is twofold: to encourage the development of a lifelong appreciation for books and reading, and to develop the skills necessary to find, evaluate and use information wisely.
Elementary pupils usually exchange books during their library period, but they may also do so at any other time.
Secondary students come to the library on an as-needed basis. They may check out books at any time.
