It’s been a hectic few weeks moving house, moving schools, meeting new staff and students, working out where everything is and becoming used to the climate and Thai language and customs. I have enjoyed the warmest welcome from so many people and time is just flying by with a full diary of events and activities.
A whole month has passed since we landed and it is quite staggering to reflect on the things I have learned and the places I have visited locally, not to mention the vast array of new faces and names I have had the pleasure of meeting. This is a very special place. Regents is a big and busy place and it is quite a challenge to get around the site and see the fullness of daily activity, but I am up for the challenge! It is a new experience living on the campus and being so close to the school. I have not been late for work once nor had to endure a single wet start or a traffic jam. I don’t miss those.
Meeting several parents at our coffee mornings and at the fabulous Jesters fair has been a delight and it is good to see so many supportive and genuinely interested school partners. The new term is well under way now and I have been impressed by students’ excellent behavior and impressive good manners. They have all been positive, cheerful and similarly welcoming. It is a daily thrill to walk around and to be greeted with some lovely warm hellos and to engage in such exchanges with such friendly bright young people.
In spite of the teething problems with the uniform everybody still looks smart and the new canteen arrangements are bedding in. I am gathering feedback to ensure we secure the best possible service from our contractors. I have also been keen to follow up the recent concerns following a collision outside school to ensure bus drivers always observe our highest expectations of them when transporting our students.
So a new year begins with new challenges and I hope all our new students, boarders included, feel as settled and happy as I do. My challenge to everybody in the community will be to aim high and to achieve more as our school steers on an unswerving path to being the best it can be and the word-class institution which I am delighted to lead.
Feedback and suggestions always welcome!
