Interview With New BISS Parent Julie Hartley

A Leap Of Faith. For families relocating to Shanghai the prospect can be daunting. Here are some tidbits from existing families on what life in West Shanghai is like.

Interview With Julie Hartley

When did you move to Shanghai?
August 2014

Where did you relocate from?
The United States (Kentucky)

How many children do you have? & Ages?
Two children, Leah 5 & Chase 2

Are there any pre-school groups that you currently attend in the area?
None - but both kids enjoy Bravo & Marvel play place at Fashion Park mall.

When you first moved here what do you wish someone would have told you to bring?
Stock up on skin care and hair care products.

Why did you choose this particular area?
My husband had arranged a visit to Shanghai before we moved here. We visited Qingpu district which is south west  of Minhang and we decided that the location and schools were not a good fit for my family. In Minhang however we liked the space and that we can walk safely. We liked the fact that this is an expat community and the British International school appealed because of the diversity of the students.

Where does your husband work?

My husband commutes approximately 45 minutes to work. We wanted to live close to our children’s school. My husband does not mind commuting to his office.
