Global Campus: The week ahead (w/c 13th March)
UPCOMING DATES AND DEADLINE
- 20th - 24th March – DCIS Food Drive week for the Global Challenge
- 31st March – DCIS deadline for Visual Arts Competition
GLOBAL CHALLENGE - This year, our collaborator, UNICEF, has challenged our students to tackle two of the United Nation’s Global Goals for sustainable development. DCIS will be taking part in two events in response to this challenge and here is how everyone can get involved..!
From 20th – 24th March DCIS will be hosting their first ever food drive, working with FoodBank SG, a local charity which collects donated food from businesses and individuals to distribute to local food kitchens, other charities and community service projects within Singapore. Each morning, on the front steps from 8.15-8.30am, you can take part by donating any spare unopened non-perishable food you have at home – canned goods, rice, oil, noodles, biscuits, and so on. By taking part you will be positively contributing towards Goal 2 of the United Nations Global Goals – ‘Zero hunger’. Student volunteers from the Secondary School will be waiting to receive your goods and pack them ready for collection on Friday.
As well as the food drive, a smaller group of Secondary students will be going to volunteer on a Sunday morning at a local Soup Kitchen, run by Willing Hearts. They will be involved in the preparation, cooking and distribution of food to those in need in Singapore. By doing this, they will be positively contributing towards both Goal 2 and Goal 3 – ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’.
UN GLOBAL GOALS SUMMIT 2017 – Congratulations to Indira and Sameeksha for being chosen as our ambassadors to the NAE UN visit in New York in July. They will join 18 other students and 3 Nord Anglia staff at the High Level Meeting on the Global Goals. Thank you to all those who took the time to create and submit their application videos.
GLOBAL LIBRARY - Congratulations to everyone who has taken part in the Chinese New Year Global Library competition! View a video announcement of the winners and runner ups on the Global Campus Online
VISUAL ARTS - The deadline for the Visual Arts competition is March 31st and details have been shared across the school about how to take part. Please hand your entries to your class teacher in Primary, or Ms. K in Secondary.
Have a great week all. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any queries you may have, and keep in contact! We love to see and hear what you have been up to with the Global Campus.
Many thanks,
The Global Campus Team
