Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,
Many thanks to all the families who supported our UN Day on Friday. I am very grateful to everyone involved for making the day such a success, especially Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Hyland for coordinating the Primary and Secondary sections respectively. I am also grateful to the DCA for their support with the UN Day t-shirts and the country stamps.
As Ms Lebihan said in her welcome address I was flying back from Adelaide having just been part of a CIS accreditation team at a school there – and feeling very frustrated that I was missing one of the most important days of the year, the UN Day. I switched on my phone upon landing to receive a lovely set of photos and messages to attest how well the day had gone. The Adelaide visit was a very useful precursor to our own accreditation visit in November 2019. The CIS process in centred around a rigorous 18 month self-study where the school reviews every aspect of the school - this is then verified by a visiting team through a review of documents, meetings with all groups in the school and observations around the school in and outside of the classroom.
This week is STEAM week at Dover Court and children in Primary School and Year 9 are involved in a number of activities to promote technology and collaboration in a variety of areas. Thank you to the parents who are supporting the week by coming in to speak to groups of our students.
On Thursday 1st November we will have our Cross Country House Day, the House Days are now regularly occurring events, much appreciated by all. Please do note that the Cross Country is a non-spectator event.
On Friday 2nd November, DCA’s popular Halloween Trunk or Treat will take place. We are looking forward to welcoming ghosts, monsters and other scary creatures to the campus on Friday evening. For any questions, please contact DCA directly: dovercourtassociation@gmail.com
I would also like to remind parents that our Term 2 withdrawal deadline is on Thursday 1st November. We are really grateful to parents who are leaving Singapore to let us know by this date so we can begin to offer places to families on our waiting list.
Have a great week.
Mr. Christopher Short
Principal

Deepavali Dress Up Day
On Friday 9th November we will celebrating Deepavali in school. On this day, children are invited to come to school dressed in Deepavali clothes if they would like to. Just a reminder in advance so you have time to pop to Little India for a costume. While this is of course totally optional we do hope you will support your children on this special day.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 29thOctober (that’s today!)
We have had some amazing photo submissions at Global Campus online. Mr. Handley and our secondary school art teacher Miss Kertrestel will be choosing three entries to represent Dover Court in the global competition.
We look forward to sharing the results with you soon…
This year’s photography judge for the global competition will be Randy Plett. Click here to access a short video from Randy about the competition.
STEAM ‘Hack the Tube’ Competition
This year, the task for Nord Anglia students around the world is to take a paper towel tube and re-imagine its use, transforming into something different.
Students can share their hacks online at the ‘Hack the tube’ competition page (click here to check it out)
To share your hack or ask any questions, please contact our Primary School STEAM leader, Mr. Baines or our Global Campus leader, Mr. Handley.
