Dear DCIS Parents,
We have had three groups of students out last week on a wide variety of trips and expeditions. Year 6 returned from Udon Thani in Thailand on Friday with a host of exciting stories and experiences to share. Our Global Expedition Team in Tanzania returns today and we look forward to hearing how they enjoyed their service learning and safari. Mr. Jury and Mrs. Harris took a group of Secondary students to the FOBISIA Maths competition over the weekend in KL. The team did very well in their inaugural participation.
I very much enjoyed my day as a Primary student on Wednesday. The ability to see the bus service first hand and participate in 12 different lessons made for a lovely day. I even moved up the beehive and received a good report from the Nursery team. I have to say I had an early night that night!
Thursday was World Down Syndrome Day and it was a very colourful sight to see so many students and staff rocking their socks around the school.
This week is STEAM challenge week and we look forward to seeing the creative solutions our teams come up with. The theme of the week is Super Natural and our children in Primary and the Year 7 students will explore how animals can inspire the design of an invention or solve an existing problem. It is also the Year 4 swimming galas this week and we look forward to welcoming parents onto the campus to support their children. Please remember to wear your parent ID badge or collect a visitors pass from reception. There are signs to remind you and we have asked all staff to be extra diligent in reminding all adults on campus to expose their badges.
On Tuesday we are running a Parent Workshop on practical strategies for Pathways 3 and 4. Our Inclusion Team will be covering topics including: managing anxiety, focus and attention, vocabulary skills and how to support reading.
On Wednesday we have our annual Proms concert. This is an excellent opportunity for our large number of musicians to showcase their talents.
On Saturday night the DCA are running their annual Family Movie Night, screening Ralph Breaks the Internet. I look forward to seeing many of you at this event, it is a lovely way for families to get together at the end of Term 2.
I hope you have a great week.
Mr. Christopher Short
Principal
