Dear DCIS Parents,

I am just back from a very fruitful week in London meeting potential candidates for next year. Apart from interviewing our new teachers we also enjoyed the rare opportunity to meet with all NAE leaders and sharing ideas and visions. Our Academic Advisory Board gave presentations and Lord Puttnam, our Chair and the producer of Chariots of Fire, talked about digital education. It surely is a relevant topic and our student screening of Screenagers this week is well in line with Lord Puttnam’s speech.

The first Year 4 trip to Kota came back on Friday and they had a great time. I met some nervous parents this morning seeing off the second group, however the atmosphere on the buses was all excitement; we look forward to welcoming them back on Wednesday and hearing their stories of adventure and challenge. I am very grateful to our staff who give up their time to run these trips.

We had a very successful Year 6 transition day on Thursday. Although our Primary and Secondary are located close by and Year 6 will know many of the Secondary facilities, it is important that we give them a more formal opportunity to experience Year 7, so that the transition in August is seamless. Many thanks to parents who attended our workshops and information evenings last week, I hope you found them informative and useful.

In the run up to Chinese New Year our Mandarin Department organised a Temple Fair today. All the Primary children will be able to tell you about what the Temple Fair and share the excitement of the Lion Dancers.

A reminder that our Parent Satisfaction survey is still open. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey please find it here. It is an opportunity to comment on all aspects of the school including buses and our new caterers and provides excellent feedback for us for our future planning.

Have a great week.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal
