From Nursery all the way up to Year 5 competed in a LEGO competition run by the LEGO company.

Their challenge was to build a Sustainable City.  Each year group was in charge of creating a part of the city.

  • Early Years was in charge of any building
  • Year 1 – Green Spaces
  • Year 2 – Sources of Energy
  • Year 3 – Homes
  • Year 4 – Transport
  • Year 5 – Infrastructure

The students worked in teams of no more than five and the class teachers had a tough decision in deciding which three creations would be shortlisted. These shortlisted pieces were then sent to the judging room ready for the LEGO volunteers to pick the best three out of each year group.  They were amazed by all the creations and could not believe that the students had all these ideas.

It was a very hard decision. The winning three out of each year group won a LEGO model box and the shortlisted winners won a mini-figure. They then assembled the DCIS Sustainable Lego city with the volunteers.

All the students, teachers and volunteers had a lot of fun.  Thank you very much to Dan, Jinny and the volunteers from LEGO for making this happen and for donating lots of LEGO to DCIS.  We truly appreciate their generosity and time.
