Hazel has spent the last 25 years in international schools around the world and claims irreversible Global Nomad status. She has a deep interest in the life experiences and outcomes for Third Culture populations and is passionate about providing the support international students need to make the best of their unique opportunities to impact and improve our world. Hazel is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities and some of the most frequently used tools in her belt are Creative Arts Therapies, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Children’s Accelerated Trauma Treatment, Critical Incident Stress Management, Applied Suicide Intervention and Skills Training, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, UK, and holds professional membership of various other national counselling and therapy bodies. Hazel co-founded an international counsellors organisation in Asia in 2011 and regularly networks with counsellors in other international schools.
Hazel has a taste for adventure and travel. She was a scuba diving instructor for twenty four years, and a keen salsa dancer for another fifteen. She has sky-dived, paraglided, parascended, hot air ballooned and taken part in many other (some possibly ill advised) outdoor activities, but these days enjoys a quieter life wandering the island with her rescue dog.
