Jill Frewin

Year 5 Class Teacher (5JF)

Jill graduated from the University of Auckland with a double-major in Education and Psychology. In 2006 she completed her post-graduate teaching diploma. She is also trained in teaching Philosophy for Children and Reading Recovery.

Jill spent the first twenty years of her career in the IT industry in New Zealand. Seeking a more meaningful work experience, she retrained as a primary teacher. Going back to her original interests in education and children was the right move and she has loved being a teacher ever since.

Jill is a literacy specialist, having spent nine years teaching Year 1 – Year 8 in Auckland Primary and Intermediate schools. As an educator, her priority is to demonstrate belief in each and every child and she considers the best learning environments to be caring, inclusive, stimulating and diverse. She views listening to the students’ own learning ideas and suggestions as critical in modern learning environments.

Jill is a confident public speaker and has visited many countries. Her key interests are art, travel, theatre, music, history and literature. Jill has three adult children living in New Zealand and China.
