Earlier in the term we announced the opening of the 3rd annual BIS Film Festival and we are excited to now be able to reveal the winners!

The 3rd BIS Film Festival was another roaring success. This annual inter-house competition is designed to develop and showcase our students’ acting, filming and video editing skills.

We were pleased to see over 40 students take part in the competition, creating a total of 9 films encompassing a range of genres from thrillers to dramas. Students from all year groups collaborated to create a story based on the theme: “Overcoming”. With this one word, students developed a whole story, filmed the video and then edited it themselves. This is demanding work with all participating students showing perseverance and commitment. All entries were of an exceptional quality, with careful editing skills and extremely well executed performances.

The films were shared with the BIS HCMC Secondary students, who watched and voted for their favourites. With over 1,600 views and almost 200 students voting, this year’s edition proved particularly popular.

The results this year have been very tight, sometimes with only 2 votes difference between the winner and the runner-up! And the winners are...

BEST ACTRESS: The duo Su Min Ryu and Yu Gyeong Kang, “The Overcoming Adventure”

BEST ACTOR: The cast of “Overcoming” (Abhishek Patki, Win Dang, Minh Phung and Mike Quach)

BEST SCRIPT: Abhishek Patki, “Overcoming”

BEST DIRECTOR: Abhishek Patki, “Overcoming”

BEST FILM: “Jin Pyo to JP”, by Alan Ngo

CRITICS’ CHOICE: “Burnt”, by Agraj Joshi and Mimi Tran / “Anatidaedphobia”, by Minh Vy Nguyen and Bao Tran Nguyen

Once again, congratulations to all students who participated this year, you should be extremely proud of yourselves! We hope you enjoy watching the films our students created and remember...

...keep making movies!
