This January, we are delighted to be able to invite our students to apply for a unique learning opportunity. UNICEF have invited Nord Anglia Education students to participate in the UN and UNICEF Student Summit on sustainable development in New York in July 2019. This opportunity is exclusive to NAE students. The selected students will become ‘NAE Ambassadors’ and will demonstrate the action our schools are taking to tackle the United Nations Global Goals for sustainable development, which is the focus of our 2019 Global Challenge.

What is the event?

The event will take place from 11th - 17th July in New York City. Students will participate in a global Model United Nations conference, workshops, seminars and debates for the week.

As part of this challenge, UNICEF has requested Nord Anglia students to come together to design practical solutions for the needs of their community. A group of selected students will then have the opportunity to present the impact of their projects at an event during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. Through workshops, seminars and debates, students will learn from experts and poicymakers about negotiating and the issues that plague the world today.

Students will also get the optional opportunity to see some of New York and potentially attend a Broadway show. More information on the High Level Political Forum can be found here: https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/hlpf

What is UNICEF?

UNICEF is a United Nations organisation dedicated to defending the realisation of rights of every child globally. Through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the organisation aims to advance the rights and well-being of every child. As part of our philosophy to be ambitious, Nord Anglia Education has teamed up with UNICEF to help achieve two of the 17 objectives:

  • Goal 4 Obtaining a quality education is the foundation to improving people’s lives and sustainable development.
  • Goal 16 Access to justice for all and building effective, accountable institutions at all levels.
