BIS HCMC rank 9th in the world in Language Perfect Championships 2019 Last week, BIS students took part in the Language Perfect Northern Championships which ran from the 6th to the 13th of November 2019.

Last week, primary school students at the British International School Ho Chi Minh City took part in the Language Perfect Northern Championships which ran from the 6th to the 13^th of November 2019.

This was an online competition in which students from more than 20 countries had been set to compete for personal and school glory.

From this celebration of language learning and achievement competition, we came in 9^th overall globally out of 159 schools, beating last year’s performance by 3 ranks!

Our students were able to recap vocabulary previously learnt in the classroom, but they also had the opportunity to challenge themselves to learn new vocabulary and grammar concepts. During the time of the competition, close to 14 million questions have been answered by competitors worldwide. Some notable student performances came from Boeing Pham (Year 6) who scored 5,145 points and came 1st across our 3 campuses, thus achieving the Emerald Certificate, Lien Phuong Pham (Year 6) with 3,208 points finishing 2nd across the school and achieving the Gold Certificate. A special mention to Emily Bui, who, despite being in Year 4, scored a fantastic 2,211 points! An amazing performance overall!

The Spanish groups took part in Mexican ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations, making mexican skeleton dolls, colourful paper and cardboard masks. They learnt about the meaning of the celebration and the similarities and differences about this custom in countries around the world.

The children so far have been fantastic, showing motivation and enthusiasm and we are looking forward to seeing them progress and thrive throughout the year.
