At the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City we believe there is no limit to what your child can achieve socially, personally and academically. Our students’ academic results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) reflect our commitment to excellence in this area.
For the 2018/19 academic school year, a record 78 students sat their IB Diploma at BIS HCMC. Impressively, our 12th cohort attained an average score of 35.8, which is 6 points higher than the IB global average, once again widening the gap between BIS HCMC and other IB schools around the world.

2019 IB Results Highlights
Our 2019 IBDP results showcase a number of impressive statistics for this cohort, both on an individual level and collectively:
- Victoria Fethke and Doan Nguyen both succeeded in scoring outstanding scores of 44 out of 45. They are both heading to the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, an Ivy League institution ranked in the Top 20 universities in the world.
- Our students' average score in the IB Diploma was 35.8, 6 points higher than the 2019 world average.
- 29% of our students achieved 40 points or more. This level of attainment provides our students with the opportunity to gain admission into the world's elite universities.
- Our students received 300 university offers including prestigious Ivy League colleges in the US and Russell Group universities in the United Kingdom.
Our average score continues to benchmark higher than the global average year-on-year, which serves to highlight the excellent academic standards of the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City and the calibre of our students in comparison to other international schools in Vietnam and indeed globally.

About the IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma Programme is an internationally recognised qualification for admission into higher education. This intensive programme not only provides the academic knowledge and skills required for further education but offers our students the opportunity for personal growth to become responsible members of their communities.

Each student undertaking the full IB diploma studies 6 individual subjects with a maximum of 7 points awarded in each, as well as 3 core requirements. A full IB Diploma is awarded for those students who achieve 24 points or more up to a maximum of 45 points.
