Staff Profile: Jonathan Smith

Year 6 Teacher

Since arriving in Vietnam in 2005, I have enjoyed many adventures: being a part of a vibrant school that has grown from strength to strength; the daily adventures associated with living in Ho Chi Minh City; and my greatest journey started not long after being married, as my two children now attend BIS.

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Sports Science/Psychology, Chester University, UK

PGCE, University College of Ripon & York, St John’s, UK

Prior to joining BIS, Jonathan taught for six years in England, teaching in York and then Leeds. During this time, he was responsible for coordinating PE and Geography before moving to the Middle East in 2001. At Kuwait English School, he worked as a Year 4 teacher whilst also developing the English aspect of the curriculum. He has a particular interest in travelling, films, music and football and is always keen to tell people that Liverpool F.C. is his special team.
