Having qualified as a teacher in 1990, Ian spent three years teaching in Hemel Hempstead before an eight year stint working in international schools; four years at Unity High School, Khartoum, Sudan were followed by four more at The British Embassy Study Group, Ankara, Turkey. A management position, with responsibility for developing the ICT programme, at Ecclesall Junior School, Sheffield, brought Ian back to the UK and in 2007 he became deputy headteacher at Greenhill Primary School, also in Sheffield.
Ian is married with three children, who take up most of his spare time, and enjoys both watching and participating in a variety of sports particularly football and golf. He delights in learning, and is thoroughly enjoying the experiences living in Vietnam has presented to both himself and his family.
