Staff Profile: Maria Shooter

MARIA SHOOTER_511

Assistant Head Teacher, EYI Campus

BA (Hons) East European Studies, University College London, UK

PGCE, University of Worcester

Maria joined BIS in 2015 as an F2 teacher, having previously taught in Somerset in the UK and Cairo, Egypt. She loved learning more about young children’s development and motivations before taking up post as Year Group Leader in F3. Maria is a huge advocate for play based and social learning opportunities and worked to develop Outdoor Learning on the Early Years campus roof garden and the Early Learning Centre (ELC) in F3. She has recently completed her Masters (MA) in International Education which provided her with great insights, knowledge and opportunities to explore wider international school issues. She is passionate about enabling young children to make a positive start to their school life through a strong partnership with parents. In 2021 she took up post as Assistant Headteacher, based on the Early Years and Infants campus and, believing in the power of collaborative working, is excited about the opportunities to learn from and work alongside colleagues across the school.
