Sean joined BIS Ho Chi Minh City in 2014 after a successful 12-year career in the UK state sector. Throughout this time, Sean gained a rich breadth of leadership experiences spanning leadership of Academic departments, Whole School Learning Support provision and Sixth Form prior to embarking on his Senior Leadership career in 2011. Sean’s Senior Leadership roles have encompassed responsibility for many aspects of Teaching and Learning, and, from 2016 -2020, he was Deputy Head at BIS HCMC with responsibility for Welfare & Guidance. As Deputy Head, Sean led the introduction and development of our wellbeing provision and the significant expansion of the teams, processes and facilities that shape the balanced educational experience of BIS students.
Sean was appointed as Secondary Headteacher in August 2020. As Head of Secondary, he will continue to build the quality of provision at BIS to reflect his holistic philosophy that a successful education is one that balances outstanding academic outcomes, wellbeing and character development.
In his spare time, Sean is an enthusiastic - if limited - guitarist, enjoys reading history and politics, and following the fortunes of Tottenham Hotspur FC.
He is in Vietnam with his partner, Anita, who also works as a teacher at BIS, and his son who is in Year 6. Together with their grown up daughter, Georgina, who is currently based in London, they enjoy travel, the outdoors and family time together.
