Year 5 Expedition

Three days spent in Hoi An learning local crafts such as cooking, silk making and creating lanterns.

Over the three days, the children embark on a series of remarkable adventures and experiences. These include a visit to the Hoi An Silk Village to learn how silk is made; Marble Mountain for abseiling and team building; Tra Qe Vegetable Village where they learn traditional gardening skills and cook a delicious meal; Thanh Ha Pottery Village to make clay toys and a lantern factory where they create their own unique lantern. The children also get to experience the wonder of Hoi An ancient town and a visit to the Japanese Covered Bridge. Significantly woven into the trip is a visit to the Village of Hope, a local orphanage, which is part of the Year 5 Community Service project. Year 5 children bring toys and games to share and interact with the local children.

Children return to HCMC with a greater sense of independence and great memories of an exciting trip with their friends.

The children were extremely resilient, trying new things and pushing themselves outside their comfort zones, and supportive of each other. Expedition Leader
