For students in Year 12 the most difficult aspect of their trip is deciding which one to go on. They have a choice of the following:
Kon Tum in Vietnam - a Service and Adventure trip. This amazing trip engages students with two day of visits to four different orphanages in the area, where our students make posters, play balloon tennis, sing and play a long standing favourite, tug of war. During this trip students partake in a trek with a visit to the beautiful Kon Kotu homestay, enjoy local entertainment and experience the serenity that Kon Tum has to offer.
Puerto Galera, Philippines - a diving experience. Each year a team of students head off to Philippines and return qualified divers, either in Padi Open Water or Advanced. During this exciting week, the students also take time out to visit a local school and prepare activities and games for the young children. It is an extremely rewarding trip, which is given greater context by one of our students:
"I enjoyed every single aspect of the week, from challenges faced through diving to visiting the local school. The dives were astonishing; sea snakes and turtles were just some of the amazing sights that we witnessed. Friendships were tightened and I am sure that we will remember this memorable time."
Felix Robineau, Year 12
Chiang Rai – This trip is packed full of activities, games, team building challenges and visits to a variety of locations. We will visit minority villages and several social enterprise projects. We will also cross the Mekong into Laos for a night where we will trek through the stunning forests, visit waterfalls and explore a huge cave system. This is the perfect expedition for those who want to be challenged mentally and physically!
To develop critical thinking during the visits, students are encouraged to formulate questions and challenge ideas, therefore demonstrating an understanding of the complex interrelationships between global issues in from a range of perspectives and academic backgrounds.
Last year’s students felt an improvement in their personal confidence, leadership skills and critical thinking while also developing a deeper awareness around several global issues.
