Over the years, most of the awards were given to the people who truly deserved them but there were also many people who in spite of deserving such an award, never received one. Some people had to wait for them a long time while others received them immediately after a scientific discovery took place, or right after their book had been published.
Yesterday, people in Poland have been celebrating, regardless of their political views, its 6th Nobel Prize in Literature. Many other languages have been awarded Literary Nobel prizes thus emphasising international mindedness of this award, something so relevant to the ethos, curriculum and demographics of our school. We as educators often discuss with students, in science or language lessons, some of the great discoveries or books that won Nobel Prizes. We strongly believe that many of our students, will follow in the footsteps of these great pioneers of chemistry, medicine, literature or world peace.
