Curriculum PE

All students, from our Early Years through to Year 11 and Pre IB, have access to weekly PE lessons. The amount of time varies, as do the activities on offer, but one constant remains: excellent staff who engender a love of sport in their students.

Primary students have two 45 minute lessons of PE a week in addition to dance and swimming lessons at different points within their Primary school journey. Secondary students all have 1 double lesson of  of PE per week. Lessons involve a range of activities, including team sports such as basketball, football and volleyball, individual sports like table tennis, and athletics and a balance of fitness and gymnastics. In addition to our core PE programme, students can choose to study GCSE PE in year 10 and 11 and IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science as part of their IB studies. Sports Leaders courses are also being implemented as an accredited award in some curriculum areas and as an extra curricular option.

Running in tandem with our curriculum offerings is our extra curricular programme, within our whole school LEAP provision. This offers students a chance to try new sports in a friendly atmosphere, develop skills or work towards sporting competition. We offer a range of sports from fencing to football, or athletics to basketball. A great number of students join in with an extra curricular club every week. There are inter-house competitions too, which are fun for a wide range of young sportsmen and sportswomen and contribute to the overall house competition.

Students have access to an outdoor astro turf pitch, 3 gymnasiums, an outdoor urban gym, a 3 lane 60m sprint straight, multi use field area and our school playgrounds. In addition to this, for our extra curricular activities, we hire out a variety of sporting facilities. There’s no excuse not to join in, have fun and keep fit.
