I have worked at BISW since 2010 and have enjoyed teaching both P.E and leading a variety of year groups. I appreciate the theory behind learning and how we can best deliver our subject content using a range of methods. I want to help create lifelong learners who can pursue their passions, learn from one another and their surroundings, and share their knowledge and understanding. While at BISW I was fortunate enough to have the exciting opportunity to be part of the team who wrote the Physical Education units for the International Middle Years Curriculum which gave me a chance to help create a thematic learning approach that was relatable, interesting and engaging for students in the lower secondary.
I gained a Bachelor of Science in Sports Studies from Worcester University which helped me hone my skills and passions with the flexibility to study Physical Education, sports coaching, psychology, and physiology all linked to the athlete and the developing child. I then gained qualified teacher status from Chichester University before teaching in a variety of schools with a range of different P.E curriculums and needs. My career, so far, has challenged me, given me opportunities and allowed me the freedom to provide activities that inspire, motivate, enthuse and engage students of all ages. I strive to continue this in my lessons on a day to day basis.
I enjoy going on holidays with my family and we have been fortunate to see a wide range of attractions and destinations all over America, traveling to most of the states on our family road trips.
Why do I love teaching?I want to engage and enthuse students to lead a healthy life and become lifelong learners. When I see students having that 'lightbulb' moment, it makes what I do, worth it.
