Head of Early Years Education; Pre-Nursery Teacher

I am an Early Years specialist and have been teaching for over twenty years. I trained as a Nursery Nurse before gaining my Bachelor of Education Degree from De Montfort University. I have taught in a variety of schools from a small village to the inner city and some in between. My first experience of teaching in the USA was in Virginia, back in 2006 when I took part in the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Programme. I loved working and living in America and was thrilled when the opportunity arose to come back to the USA and teach in Washington, DC; that was back in 2009!

I am the Head Of Early Years here at BISW which enables me to ensure the very best experiences for our youngest learners. I am thrilled to be remaining in Pre-Nursery programme and will continue to bring excellent early years experiences to our very youngest pupils. We offer something that is very unique to Early Years Education. We explore big ideas through themes and allow the children to have a role in steering us through the topics.  The Pre-Nursery programme provides our students the opportunity to learn in an environment that is safe, fun and appropriate to their stage of development. Your child will have ownership of their educational journey and I will be there, along with my team, to guide them along the way. I am very excited to be working with you and your child in the coming year.

I am a very active person outside of school. I enjoy running, yoga and a little bit of Crossfit too. I love being outdoors and I am thrilled that we incorporate this within the Pre-Nursery programme. Whatever the weather, you will find us enjoying the learning environment outside. I enjoy competing in Savage Race and Tough Mudder events. I have run a few half marathons and completed the Marine Corps Marathon here in DC too.  I love the thrill of adventure and have been known to tandem skydive on occasion. I wonder what adventures we will have together…
