Detailed and personalized guidance in given to all students and parents at all stages of the university entry process. As students begin researching college options; exploring the selection criteria and identifying factors that contribute to “best fit” universities is important. Through classroom presentations, workshops and individual student and family meetings; all aspects of the search, application and selection process are reviewed. Focused sessions on the research process, personal statements, college essays and resume preparation are offered through both internal and external resources.
Students are be encouraged to prepare for and begin admissions testing (SAT/ACT) and review courses are offered through our partnership with The Princeton Review.
College and University Application Preparation
Students and parents meet regularly with the college counselor who provides advice and guidance through each stage of the application process: Common Application for American colleges and Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) for UK universities. Additionally universities from around the world visit our campus on a regular basis.
Over fifty college and university representatives from all over the world visit BISW annually during the fall recruitment season- students should take advantage of these individual and small group settings to learn more about admissions requirements and signature programs offered at each university.
BISW hosts several group evening information sessions: The Best of British, Explore England and Kings/Edinburgh information sessions, as examples- parents and students are welcome and encouraged to attend. We also publicize other information sessions offered at area schools through our relationship with the Washington Area Independent Schools Association (WAIS).
