Congratulations to Regents International School Pattaya's sailing team which competed in the Thailand inter-school sailing championships and finished a very creditable 2nd place after two solid days racing.
Five teams, three countries, over 100 Year 5 and 6 children with a love of sport and a desire to compete – that was the successful recipe for the inaugural Nord Anglia South East Asia Games, held over the weekend at Regents International School Pattaya.
Regents International School Pattaya enjoyed an extraordinary medal haul at the 2016 FOBISIA Games held in Beijing. Demonstrating fantastic commitment and determination, all members of the squad returned as medalists.
The annual Cross Country took place at St Andrew's on Thursday 13th October. Regents International School Pattaya's Lions team was comprised of approximately 80 students from Years 4 to 13. Last Thursday our Under 15 team took on GIS as part of their preparations for the U15 FOBISIA games in Beijing, China in November. This friendly match was part of the ESAC competitions between several local schools in this area, and it was their 2nd match this term.
It was great to see a mixed group of primary and secondary students, parents and teachers work alongside our friends from Mermaids on the International Schools' Reef Clean 2016.
As we approached Phuket from the air, we could see the mountains of Khao Sok and we were captivated by the landscape. We all knew there were things down there waiting to feed on us.
Year four visited the orphanage over two days in Week 10 to weed the lawns and help prepare a framework which we festooned with flowers, all paid for and funded by previous donations. It was hot and hard work and made especially fun by many of the Baan Jing Jai children being around to help. We managed a sing-song, and we showed the children how to dance the Macarena, principally due to Ms. Steph’s mastery of the dance.
As another academic year of sport draws to an end, there is just about enough time to pause for a breath and reflect on what has been another busy and successful year for our Regents Lions. There has been home runs, goals, baskets, cries of ahoy, two hand finishes, photo finishes and even a hole in one, as our pupils have once again immersed themselves in a wide range of sports here at Regents.ye
Alex from Year 10 is one of the Regents' very talented sportsmen and together with the team of his fellow sailors, Alex will be representing the Regents International School Pattaya in the upcoming Fobisia Sailing Championships 2016 held in the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in March 9th - 12th 2016.
Here is an interview with Alex by Mr David Williams, Head of Outdoor Education.
