Reading with our children can be one of the most exciting, memorable and special times we have as parents. By Reading to them and listening to them read and tell stories we are helping them develop skills that they will use every single day for the rest of their lives!

Learning to read also helps to instill confidence, independence and self-belief that will massively help your child’s all round development.

We encourage you to visit our wonderful libraries and borrow books from school that will stimulate your child’s love for reading, whether you are reading to them or they are reading to you.

Here are a range of engaging story books that are great to share with young children:

The Tiger who came to tea by Judith Kerr
Handa’s surprise by Eileen Brown
Pete the cat by Eric Litwin
Elmer the Elephant by David McKee
Room on a broom by Julia Donaldson
What the ladybird heard by Julia Donaldon
Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
The very hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle
Traditional stories such as, Three little pigs and Jack and the beanstalk
