Though the school welcomed its inaugural students in September for the start of Term 1, this important Official Opening occasion marked the founding of NAIS Dublin as the first truly International School in Ireland offering the IB curriculum.
The day began with a special tree planting ceremony presided over by special guest the Rt Hon. Lord David Puttnam of Queensgate KT CBE who is the Chairman of the NAIS Dublin School Advisory Board. Along with Lord Puttnam, the youngest and oldest students in our school joined in a ceremonial ‘planting’ of a young oak tree in front of the school, followed by words and remarks by Lord Puttnam, who also sang for us his own school alma mater (which just happened to be about an Oak Tree!).
Parents, families, and guests were treated to a formal Opening presentation with comments by Principal Paul Crute, Lord Puttnam and special guest Andrew Volgelaar, Head of Growth Markets for IDA Ireland. After the presentation Lord Puttnam presided over the official unveiling of the School Plaque after which all guests joined for a reception.
Commenting on the occasion, our Founding Principal Paul Crute said “We are extremely proud to bring to Dublin the calibre of world-class education offered by Nord Anglia Education. We're the only school in Ireland that offers the full International Baccalaureate, and our 'whole-child' philosophy will nurture exceptionally rounded young people with a global and compassionate outlook. Additionally, our impressive campus integrates leading edge technology so that children will be well equipped for the careers of the future. We look forward to working with our students in this engaging environment to help them grow into confident world citizens.”
