Charlotte Lamont

Charlotte Lamont

Primary and Secondary Music Teacher

A county Antrim native, Charlotte Lamont joined NAIS Dublin in September 2020, following seven years of teaching music in K-12 in London and Switzerland. A performing arts enthusiast, Charlotte advocates for student engagement and creativity across music, dance and drama.

Charlotte began playing the cello at age eight years old and this ignited a life-long love of music making and a passion for learning. At Antrim Grammar School, Charlotte began singing and piano lessons in addition to cello. Her love of music theatre, choirs and pop performance come second only to her love of orchestral and chamber music. As a young performer, Charlotte enjoyed many performances and tours with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Ulster Youth Orchestra and Queen’s University Symphony Orchestra. These invaluable courses highlighted the profound impact that masterful teachers can have on young people, and Charlotte decided that teaching music would become her vocation.

Charlotte undertook her BMus at Queen’s University Belfast where she graduated with First Class Honours in 2013. A self-professed home-bird, Charlotte stepped out of her comfort zone and moved to London, completing the Teach First Leadership Development Programme with an integrated PGCE in Secondary Music from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2014. Following the programme, Charlotte stayed in London and worked at School21, a cutting-edge project based learning school in Stratford. Charlotte then moved to Switzerland in 2017, taking a post as music curriculum leader at Haut-Lac International Bilingual School; an IB World School.

When not in the classroom, you might find Charlotte playing in string quartets, orchestras or singing in choirs. She was kindly gifted a Celtic harp at Christmas (named Carolan as a proud member of Carolan house) and is enjoying learning a new instrument! Outside of music, Charlotte enjoys travelling, time with family and friends, walks by the sea, cycling, cooking, skiing, reading, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks. She enjoys reading and watching shows and movies in French, thanks to her time in Switzerland!
