Andrew Bateson

Andrew Bateson

Assistant Head of Secondary, Middle Years Coordinator and Head of Design

Andrew Bateson hails from Leeds, UK. He is an experienced Head of Design, and draws on his experience as a Landscape Architect (tending, shaping and encouraging growth), a lawyer (ensuring balance and fairness), and a Special Police Constable (calmness under pressure!).

Andrew has worked as an IB Educator for many years, both as a team leader for school authorisations as well as the Chief Examiner for MYP Design. He is excited about the opportunities for students to get involved in engaging STEAM programmes ranging from Digital Design (coding, robotics and CAD), Product Design (laser cutting, 3D printing and materials) and more!

He has been teaching internationally for many years, from the mountaintops of Switzerland to the islands of Bermuda — so his hobbies range from skiing to lobster diving! Prior to relocating to Dublin with his wife and three-year-old daughter., Andrew was based in Hamburg, Germany.
