Lawrence is a dedicated International Baccalaureate Educator who is a Senior Examiner of IB Diploma Geography and Extended Essays. After graduating from the University of Canterbury, Lawrence began his teaching career 11 years ago in West Auckland at one of New Zealand´s largest and most ethnically diverse high schools. His first international posting was in Jakarta, Indonesia and for the past 5-and-a-half years he has called Lima, Peru home. While in Lima, he has been a Head of Geography and in charge of Student Development and Opportunities.
He moved to Dublin with his wife and their two children, Eithne and Pablo were born in Peru, allowing them three countries of citizenship and luckily with the upcoming Football World Cup only one team to cheer for, Peru. However, rugby games in Ireland could become a more complicated matter for family dynamics and allegiances!
Whether it be organising outdoor education camps in the sub-tropical coastal environs of Northern New Zealand or the mangrove swamps of West Java; Geography field trips to the high Andes; or Environmental Systems and Societies investigative studies in the Amazon rainforest; He has no shortage of expertise and experience in delivering world class experiential learning activities in some of the world´s most incredible environments.
Lawrence enjoys all manner of outdoor activities from whitewater rafting to trekking and is looking forward to returning to the stunning natural landscapes that Ireland has to offer. His favorite sports are tennis, running and cricket. During his time in Peru he represented the Peruvian National Cricket team at two South American Cricket Championships. For Lawrence, learning is a lifelong journey and he delights in developing and creating the very best opportunities for his students to make meaningful, enriching learning experiences at NAIS Dublin.
