Marie-Eve Therrien

Head of Modern Foreign Languages

Marie-Eve Therrien joins us from New Zealand, where she founded La Découverte, the first French-English bilingual school programme in the South Island. She has 10 years of language teaching experience and has previously lived in Canada, Spain, Germany and New Zealand.

Fluent in French, English, Spanish and German, Marie-Eve integrates drama and music to language learning, ensuring that the latest research findings in second language acquisition are reflected in her classroom. She has shared her knowledge and enthusiasm at various conferences in Australia and New Zealand.

Marie-Eve graduated with a BA from Bishop's University in Canada and completed her Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, where she later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with Distinction. Her area of focus was the education of bilingual and heritage language learners. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, swimming, hiking, gardening and cooking, and she gets lots of cross-cultural communication practice thanks to her French husband and their two bilingual children.
