Originally from Limerick, Ireland Raemie Begley studied Biochemistry at The National University of Ireland, Galway. She always had a love for teaching and moved to London to pursue her career obtaining a PGCE in Biology from Kingston University, London. Raemietaught in London for a number of years and then moved to Los Angeles to take up a science teaching post there and also served as Science Department Chair across two schools.
With a keen interest in the environment and conservation, she has worked with students on sites of endangered species in local environments in Los Angeles. Community involvement and service-learning is very important to Raemie. She loves working outdoors and has a lot of experience organising service-learning activities for her students. Raemie has led service-learning trips to Costa Rica. She has also chaperoned students on ski trips, canoeing trips in the Colorado River and in Ardeche, France and finds these experiences invaluable in developing global awareness amongst students.
Raemie is very excited to continue her international career in her home country at NAIS Dublin. In her spare time, she loves cycling, learning how to surf, team sports and cooking and is involved in extra-curricular activities at NAIS. She has also been an active member of the staff choir in her previous schools.
